There are now a number of different sources of support for those affected by coronavirus.
If you have symptoms of coronavirus
If you have symptoms of fever and/or a new continuous cough, first check NHS Inform by visiting www.nhsinform.scot/. This has a symptom checker, self care advice, booking for coronavirus testing and access to an isolation note for your employer if required. Information is available in other formats including Easy Read, British Sign Language and a number of foreign languages.
If you are well but need general information
If you are well but need general information or advice about coronavirus, please contact the free helpline on 0800 028 2816. The helpline is open daily from 8am to 10pm.
For practical support if you are shielding
If you are shielding and require practical support, please contact the North Lanarkshire Council helpline on 03005-550-407 or email [email protected]. Your shielding letter also contains advice on accessing support.
For practical support if you have not received a shielding letter
The Scottish Government has opened a support helpline to provide essential assistance to those who do not have a network of support and are at higher risk of contracting coronavirus, but are not in the shielding group.
This service is aimed at those who do not have family or existing community support and cannot get online and who are aged over 70 years, disabled, require the support of mental health services, are pregnant or receive a flu jab for health reasons.
Please contact 0800 111 4000 for assistance. Currently this helpline is open from 9am to 5pm and will automatically connect you to the local authority.
For practical support if you are not in a high risk group
If you are not in a high risk group but require support, please visit https://www.readyscotland.org/ for further advice.
